Our kennel...

My wife and I (Beeckman Gerda and Graulus François) started breeding Airedale Terriers in 1978. Our kennel “Van ‘t Asbroek” is named after a nearby hamlet ‘t Asbroek (which is in Zoutleeuw nearby St-Truiden).

I’m an authorized FCI judge for a couple of years now, and I’m also a chief-instructor of obedience at the HZL (a school for dogs in the south of Limburg) in Niewerkerken. My wife and I are members of the Belgian, Dutch, German, French and English Terrierclub. We are ELITE Breeder of theroyal community of all terriers in ‘92, ‘93, ‘94, ‘96, ‘97, ‘98 and 2001.

Every beginning is hard. This was also the case with our breeding kennel and the results of the different exhibitions we took part in. Things began to get going with the purchase of a dutch female: LADY KIM PRETENDER. She’s the mother of our most succesful dogs. She was born in 1986 and is a descendant of a German- English combination (Cocas Cosmos with Triple Sec van de Burg Ludwigstein).

Succes began to accumulate. In 1991 she obtained the title of International Champion. In 1988 we decided to breed a litter with her. After some consideration, POLLUX II VON SCHONENBERGEN was chosen as a stud. And bull’s-Eye…From this combination, we kept two descendants namely Miss Melody Van ‘t Asbroek and Mister Murphy Van ‘t Asbroek, both of them achieved the title of Multi-Champion. Miss Melody, who’s staying at our place became our first World Winner and BOB in 1991 in Dortmund (Germany).

Mister Murphy was staying with our friends, Family Gilen Ludo who also like to participate in different shows. Thanks to the succes, the combination of the dogs was repeated the year after.
Again we chose a female and a male puppy. Nobody Van ‘t Asbroek was staying with Brone Johan who also wanted to join us in the dogshows. Nobody grew into a beautiful male Airedale. He became Multi-Champion and in 1995 World Winner + BOB in Brussels (Belgium). His sister Nanouska Van ‘t Asbroek was sent to the Oakrun Kennel in Ontario (Canada) where she became Canadian Champion in 1991 and Top Terrier in 1992.
Our breeding kennel continued with the sons and daughters and even grandchildren of Lady Kim Pretender.
Afterwards we got some help from the Family Baens Luc to keep some female and male dogs and puppies. Here, Multi-Champions Uncurbed and Sexy Girl got a lot of attention and were very well taken care of.
